Does the thought of putting on your to-do list to prep your groom sound silly? Well, let me tell you sister……….it is SO worth it! I have grooms ask me all the time what they should have for the wedding day, or what they need to be doing. You would be surprised how many grooms want to feel special too! Plus, who doesn’t want to show off some swag and style every once in a while!!!!
First order of business to prep your groom
Talk to him! Sounds simple right, but is he sentimental about a watch his great-grandfather owns? Or does he want to surprise his groomsmen with a special gift? All those things can be showcased in pictures. It may sound small and silly, but one day your great-grandkids will be able to look through these precious moments and learn who you were at that point in time. What was important to you guys tells about your personality!
Every detail matters
What I absolutely adore about grooms details, is that it doesn’t have to be over the top. Having a simple watch, suspenders, or a tie can look so great next to those freshly shined shoes. If you look through magazines of GQ, you will see editorial pictures that can help give your groom some ideas of what he should bring on the wedding day to be photographed.
Just like I tell my brides, pack up all those details in your shoebox. The small things that won’t take up much room and have those ready for your photographer at the very beginning of the day. It may feel funny walking around in some socks for an hour, but it’s also a reason to spoil your groom with some day of house shoes! Cause who doesn’t want some comfy house slippers…..in the manliest of ways.
Wedding day gifts
This is the perfect time to surprise your groom with a gift! It doesn’t have to be anything expensive, in fact it could just be the simple act of writing them a letter. You could pick out a new cologne that he loves, and have that be in his shoe box to be photographed. Ask your future in-laws if there are any family heirlooms that are important to them too, like cufflinks. What better way to score some AMAZINGLY great bonus points as the newest addition to the family 🙂
No matter what, you want BOTH of your personalites to shine. After all, it is two becoming one. So show how you are different, but how you are starting life together.
